Scoring a licensed horror property is a different job from scoring an original one. The audience arrives knowing the source, so the music has to satisfy an expectation it did not set.

The Blair Witch's own language is the absence of a score — found footage, no music. A maze cannot work that way, so the sound design carries what the film left silent.
