A touring credit shapes a score before a note of it exists. Whatever is written has to work in a different room every few nights, on whatever the venue has and after however long a get-in the day allows, so nothing in it can depend on one particular acoustic or one particular rig.
An original score also means the production is not borrowing anyone else's associations. Nothing in it arrives already belonging to a film the audience has seen.
